Certainly
no stranger to Gospel music, DEITRICK HADDON also had his hand in the
“20th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.”
HADDON was blessed to receive his Stellar Award in the category of:
Contemporary
Group/Duo of the Year.
Born and raised in the Motor City (Detroit), HADDON
was another gospel child prodigy, both as minister and musician. He
gave his first sermon at the church of his father, Bishop Clarence
Haddon, at age 11, and was directing the choir by age 13.
HADDON began his recording career in the mid 90s with the Voices
of Unity on the small Tyscot label. As the group leader for
their three albums, HADDON expressed his forward looking musical
view, merging elements of soul, hip-hop and funk in the group's Gospel
music. With slammin' albums like "Live
The Life" and "This
Is My Story," DEITRICK HADDON has
proven to be on the cutting edge of gospel music.
The music of DEITRICK & The Voices of Unity (VOU)
is captivating as well as mesmerizing to all. "A Mission to Destroy
Tradition" is their theme. Their mission is breaking man-made religious
rules that limit the message of gospel music. This is good news that
everyone needs to hear! VOU sings from the standpoint that people
need to have more than a religion – they need to have a relationship
with God.
With excitement, energy and power, DEITRICK HADDON
is anointed to lead gospel to a new era. He is an excellent songwriter
and producer and he performs with a level of intensity and emotion that
is second to none. Starring on all of his albums, HADDON is
accompanied by his wife, Damita Haddon, formerly of the sensational
group, Adoration 'N Praise. Damita, gives HADDON’s music the same
power Monique Walker does to
Hezekiah Walker's
music ministry.
